The United Kingdom Windsurfing Association has been supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council for well over 20 years.
The British Windsurfing Championships are decided over 6 events the second round being on Bridlington's North Shore, others include Christchurch, Weymouth, Herne Bay, Pwllheli and Stokes Bay.
Racing is normally held quite close in to the shore, therefore offering spectators an excellent view of the racing, either from the beach or the raised promenade, alternatively speed boat rides and a pirate ship skirt. The race area throughout the day offers an enhanced view of the action, leaving from the harbour, with races taking place throughout each day.
Racing will be held for four individual fleets, sailors from aged 12 to 17 will race on the techno board, all equipment being identical so it is always the best sailor who wins not who has the best kit, likewise sailors aged from 17 upwards race on the RS:X board, this being the Olympic class that Nick Dempsey sailed to a silver medal in 2012. Other classes include Raceboard, a more traditional class and Formula Windsurf the fastest of all the boards.
Join hundreds of windsurfers and spectators as they line the magnificent North Beach Promenade to watch the competitors battle the elements and each other to land one of the most hotly contested titles in UK windsurfing.
