Humber Jubilee Celebrations

Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th June

Humber Bridge Carparks, Hessle Square, Hessle Foreshore

Free to spectate

Times to be confirmed

The town councils of Hessle, North Ferriby, South Ferriby and Barton upon Humber have joined together in order to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. This full weekend of activities are as follows:

Saturday 2nd June

Humber Bridge Diamond Jubilee Soap Box Derby

Humber Bridge Car parks

This joint event, in aid of Help for Heroes is sponsored by and involving 40 teams made up of businesses and organisations in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It is supported by the Parish and town councils of Hessle, North Ferriby, South Ferriby, Barton upon Humber and the Humber Bridge.

Sunday 3rd June

The Big Hessle Jubilee Lunch

Hessle Square

Hessle Square and surrounding streets will be closed to traffic, where we will have dance and music as well as "The World Café" who will bring along chefs from around the world to promote healthy eating and cultural diversity. The partner towns will also be hosting events on this day including "Big Jubilee Lunches" and fun days.

Monday 4th June

The Humber Diamond Jubilee Flotilla

Hessle Foreshore

This event will again be joint with the partner Town Councils, voluntary organisations and businesses around the Humber. As an echo of Queen Victoria's Humber Flotilla, up to 60 craft from several historic sailing organisations as well as commercial and rescue vessels and local sailing clubs will become "The Humber Diamond Jubilee Flotilla". Permission has been given by the Port Authority for the flotilla to be fully dressed. It will be in formation on the estuary from late afternoon. Meanwhile on each of the foreshores celebrations will take place into the evening culminating in the lighting of our respective Town Beacons. The Humber Bridge has agreed to illuminate the towers of the bridge to showcase the lighting of the beacons, which will obviously be seen for many miles around.

It remains our intention to show the whole of the UK that the people and businesses of the Humber are capable of joining together to create a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend of pageantry and fun.

Timings for each of these events are yet to be confirmed, but they will be published as soon as they are finalised.
